What this covers

This notice explains what borrro collects when you use borrro.com and join the waitlist, why, and how to control it. borrro has not launched: there is no app, no accounts, no identity checks and no payments yet. This notice covers the website and waitlist only. We will publish a fuller notice before the app opens, covering accounts, identity checks and payments. It is written with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025 in mind.

The personal data we collect

  • Your email address, which you type into the waitlist form.
  • Your city, chosen from the options on the form.
  • Optionally, whether you want to rent things, list your things, or both.
  • A personal invite code we generate for you, the number of people who joined using your link, and, if you arrived through someone’s invite link, which code that was. Your place in line is worked out from these.
  • A record that you joined: the date and time, and the version of this notice you saw when you joined.
  • In your browser: your invite code and last-seen place in line, saved in your browser’s local storage so the site can show your spot when you come back. You can clear them from your browser settings.
  • Technical information such as your IP address and browser type, which our website host, Cloudflare and our database provider may log when you load the site or submit the form.

The site does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and we have not added advertising or analytics services to it. It is served through Cloudflare, which may measure traffic to the site and load its own measurement script, and the page may contact Clerk, the sign-in service we plan to use for accounts. Fonts and images come from borrro.com itself. If any of this changes, we will update this notice first.

Why we use it

  • To add you to the waitlist and work out your place in line, which moves up as friends join with your link.
  • To contact you about borrro, such as when access opens in your area.
  • To understand which cities people want borrro in, and whether they want to rent, list, or both.
  • To keep the waitlist working, for example so the same email address is not added twice.

We use your details only for these purposes.

Who can see it

Other people on the waitlist cannot see your email address or city. If you invite friends, the only thing you see is how many of them joined with your link.

The services that run the site process your details for us: Convex hosts the waitlist database (in the EU), and our website host and Cloudflare serve the pages.

Links such as “share on WhatsApp” or “share on X” open those services only when you choose them. Their own privacy notices apply from that point.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist details for up to two years after you join, and then delete them. If borrro launches and you create an account before then, your details move into your account and the notice published for the app applies. We delete your details sooner if you withdraw your consent or ask us to.

Your rights and how to use them

You can email [email protected] at any time, from the address you signed up with, to:

  • Withdraw your consent. It is as easy to withdraw as it was to give: one email. We will stop using your details and delete them within a reasonable time. Anything we did before you withdrew remains lawful.
  • Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we share it with.
  • Correct or update your details.
  • Have your details erased, which removes you from the waitlist.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.

We will reply within a reasonable time and in any case within 90 days. Your email address is how we identify you, so we may ask you to confirm you control it before acting.

Questions and complaints

For any question about how your personal data is processed, or if you are unhappy with how we have handled it, email [email protected]. This is the contact for those questions. Please talk to us first so we can put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

The waitlist is for people aged 18 or over. If you are under 18, please do not join. If we learn that we hold details of someone under 18, we will delete them. A parent or guardian who thinks this has happened can email [email protected].

How privacy is planned to work in the app

None of this is live today. borrro is designed as a marketplace for renting things, not a social network, and the plan is for profiles to be tied to a rental:

  • Renters and owners see only the information needed to complete a rental.
  • Phone numbers and contact details can stay masked until a real booking is under way.
  • Your exact address is shared only when it is needed to complete a handover.
  • Rental histories are not public.

Identity verification and payments will involve more personal data and outside providers. We will explain exactly what is collected, why, and with whom it is shared before those features open.

Changes

If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and the date at the top. For anything that materially affects you, we will tell people on the waitlist by email.
